Kingdom Hearts III

A Dream Soon to Be Reality

Kingdom Hearts has long been a series that has captured the hearts of many individuals across the globe over the course of the last decade. Kingdom Hearts is known for its fantastical mixture of both Final Fantasy and Disney elements to produce a most unusual gaming experience that most people did not know they needed. The first ever installment was released on September 17, 2002, in North America and I still remember experiencing this game on my PlayStation 2. The sheer nostalgia of traveling to my favorite Disney worlds in search of my lost friends imprinted upon me life values that would shape the adult I would grow into over the course of the years playing Kingdom Hearts.

The series only improved upon itself with its release of Kingdom Hearts 2. All the handheld releases were amazing as well, but they lacked the grand sense of scale that the main two games conveyed to the player. Kingdom Hearts 2 simply blew my mind by just how much better every element of the game was. The combat was faster and flashier, and way more dynamic. There were endless ways to combine different abilities to achieve your own unique playstyle and each world felt like a new adventure. With this in mind, the hype for KHIII is through the roof because it begs the question of how grand can Kishimoto make this game?

Over the course of 2013 (date KHIII was announced) to present day, there have been several new trailers showing off just how amazing and next level the creators at Square Enix are setting this game up to be. There is currently the release window of 2018 so we can expect to play this game sometime this year but when exactly will we know for sure? Well, rumors have it that on June 9, a few weeks before E3, at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra, there will be a new trailer revealing the release date.

With news like that, it becomes harder to contain the excitement for this game as its been years in making. The co-director even went as far to make comments that one world within KHII is the equivalent to one previous game!?!?! That alone is baffling because one previous game could be 10-40 hours long depending on how much you chose to complete, so is Kingdom Hearts 3 looking to be around a 100-hour game?

Let's talk about the worlds we are gonna be able to play in for KHIII. So far, a few have been officially announced, that being; Olympus Collesium, Tangled, Big Hero 6, Toy Story and Monster's Inc. We can assume that there will be around ten Disney worlds in total, so that leaves five possible worlds to be guessed. It can be speculated that a number one possibility is Frozen since it is now Disney's most highly profitable film. Personally, I believe there is a strong chance for Wreck it Ralph and Treasure Planet to make an appearance since two of Roy Conley's other films are making an appearance (Big Hero 6 and Tangled).

All in all, this year promises to be a huge one with regards to Kingdom Hearts and I personally cannot wait to purchase the game myself after such a long wait. It almost feels too good to be true, and that is may all just be a dream and we may never actually get this game in our console, but it seems that the light at the end of the tunnel is finally drawing near for Kingdom Hearts fans as the long-awaited KHIII looms in the distance.
