Last Day On Earth: Review

It's the last day on earth... apparently.

Last Day On Earth is a survival sandbox game for iOS/Android. With the game in such early development stages, it's still an ongoing beta process.

I got the game recently, due to the fact it came up recommended and top rated in my play store. The game doesn't take much to run from my point of view, but it's still in beta so it may update soon or maybe later on. I started playing the game with the knowledge of not knowing what to do, the tutorial came into the play and told me what to do—you gather items, kill a few zombies, and get equipment, then you get the option to build a base right away or travel to a different area if you want to.

I'm not a big fan of mobile games and stuff like that, but it was worth a try after seeing how many stars it was rated on. I later discovered that the game is also multiplayer where you travel to someone's base or find them in a new area. The most I've encountered with people is that they all tried to kill me and take my stuff (they tried). Once you go into a new area, you can auto collect stuff or do it manually, which for me would manually because there are zombies in every area and you will automatically try to attack them. Each area has two or three loot chests or bags for you to grab and go before other players kill you and take it or they take it before you. The loot spawn is different every time which is what I like, you get different items every time you come back to get the loot or go back into the area again for resources. You can chop trees down for wood, mine rocks for... well rocks, mine iron for iron ore, collect berries for food and healing. You also have a level up experience bar, each tree you cut down, rocks you mined, or killed zombies or players, you gain experience and level up. The level ups give you learning points or tokens, it allows you to pick specific items you can craft, make, or new stuff for building your base.

Base building is pretty neat, but it could be worked on. You build your base with the materials you got from the other areas and make it a nice home for you and your friends... if they don't kill you first. After the base building is complete or is fulfilled with your standards, you can now store items into your chests and run out there for more goodies and loot. There are different areas with high difficultly and better loot for you to nab, but that also means more players are gonna be there with better equipment and a gun probably. I can see why you need to stay within the easy areas for a while so you can gain new items and experience points, but it's not to explore the area and knowing the fact your gonna live.

After a few days of playing it, I honestly felt pretty attached to it, keeping it low and playing the game safe. It works with the brain I do believe but I don't like the fact you have to loop like twenty times just to get supplies and horde some experience, but I get that you need a lot just to build a base and make some equipment and other stuff for further projects. The game is still in beta so not really much to review, but it's worth a shot to try it out and all that, so I recommend giving it a shot, you don't like it then its all good.
