I feel like every time we touch on the subject of Pokémon GO that phrase "went crazy" gets thrown around quite often. Well, it can be thrown around again when a player from Ohio, kaitcovey, supposedly caught one of the games very first rare Pokémon, Articuno.

Understandably, Pokémon GO players, say it with me, went crazy.

However, aside from the typical hateful vitriol that might come from something like this was a lot of skepticism and a few jokes here and there.

People were a little suspicions of the catch and the Covey's efforts to prove that it's real didn't help. Supposedly, the Articuno was gifted to them by Niantic because of an in-game error as a way to make it up to them. The events have finally come to a head with a direct response from Niantic.

Speaking to IGN, they made it absolutely clear that Articuno has not been released yet and that they have fully rectified the situation.

We recently noticed that a few Legendary Pokémon got into a few accounts when they shouldn’t have, To preserve the game’s integrity and as a measure of fairness, we have rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokémon from the Trainers’ accounts.

One silver lining in Niantic's recent rash of bad moves, I suppose, is that they really do not tolerate people attempting to cheat in the game. Despite barely issuing a statement with regard to their faulty tracking, they've dealt a heavy hand to this particular couple with the swift fury of a thousand solar beams. Good for them, I suppose.

It's left to see when and where the rare birds and other magnificent Pokémon will be revealed. For now, I just want to know where this Pikachu is outside. That's all I want.
