Nintendo Switch Will Have Games From EA, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Activision. Here's What That Means
The possibilities seem endless when you really think about it, and it's exciting to imagine Nintendo's return to power thanks to the potential of the Nintendo Switch.
Well, the day is finally here.
Early this morning, Nintendo released a preview of the Nintendo Switch, and it looks absolutely amazing. The Nintendo Switch looks to introduce mobility to the console generation while also working as an in-home console to boot.
That news in-and-of-itself should be enough to cause a mouthwatering reaction to any gamer who has ever touched a Nintendo console. Nintendo didn't stop at simply making it known that they were giving us a new console in March, they went above and beyond and gave us a list of third-party developers who were on board with the Nintendo Switch. In the trailer, we even get to see Skyrim (presumably Special Edition). Here's the big list of 3rd party developers supporting the Switch:
- 505 Games
- LEVEL-5 Inc.
- Activision Publishing, Inc.
- Marvelous Inc.
- ARC SYSTEM WORKS Co., Ltd.
- Maximum Games, LLC
- ATLUS CO., LTD.
- Nippon Ichi Software, Inc.
- Audiokinetic Inc.
- Parity Bit Inc.

So there it is, the list of developers and game engine teams that are already confirmed to support the Switch in some way or another. It's a massive list with a ton of implications and potential for the Nintendo Switch to truly be a game changer for Nintendo.
That's an impressive list but what does it mean, really?
Well it means that Nintendo is making a statement. They're telling the world that Nintendo is still a name in the gaming world. For a while now Nintendo has struggled to get the cross platform support of third party developers dating back to the days of the Gamecube and its successor the Wii. Nintendo had to focus on in-house games, but not anymore thanks to the incredible list of partners.
So it looks like gamers across the world can be looking ahead to some great games to reach the Switch from developers like Ubisoft, Bethesda, Activision and even EA along with their extensive list of Nintendo specific titles.
What Could We See Coming?
This is the fun part to imagine, because based on the list of developers we could see several big games appear on the console. In the launch trailer we saw screens of the following games:
- The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
- Splatoon
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 9
- a new 3D Super Mario game
- an NBA title
Bethesda's Skyrim is the most notable game of those seen in the launch trailer, and it really speaks to the console's capability in terms of graphics and comparability to Sony and Microsoft's versions on their soon to be "last-gen" systems. Yet, after looking at the list of developers there are so many possibilities.
- Square Enix will most likely give us Final Fantasy XV and possibly the Final Fantasy 7 remake.
- Take-Two could potentially introduce Red Dead Redemption 2 to the Switch.
- EA has a massive library to draw from and several upcoming titles that would be amazing on the Switch.
- Capcom could introduce Dead Rising 5.
- Ubisoft should bring Dedsec to The Switch with Watch_Dogs 2.
The possibilities seem endless when you really think about it, and it's exciting to imagine Nintendo's return to power thanks to the potential of the Nintendo Switch.
