The PlayStation 1 or PlayStation or PS... or PS1 as everyone says. This console brings me back to some good old memories of using plug-in controllers and Memory Cards. The console was released on December 3rd, 1994 in Japan, September 9th, 1995 in North America, September 29th, 1995 in Europe, and lastly on November 15th, 1995, it was released in Australia. This console brings a lot of memories and great games that were played, so this is my top ten best PS1 games that I think were amazing to play when I was a kid.

10.) Ape Escape

Ape Escape brings me back to the times where I was really upset and mad. The game had its difficulty levels but overall the game was fun. The game came out in May 1999 in North America and later came out in June 1999 for Japan. The story of the game is an Ape named Specter who gains intelligence and a malevolent streak through the use of an experimental helmet. Specter produces an army of apes, which he sends out through time to rewrite history; the main character you play as, "Spike," sets out to capture the apes with the aid of his special gadgets. The game overall was great and I liked but it didn't reach its popularity until later on in time. Ape Escape 2 came along and came out for PlayStation 2 or PS2.

9.) Crash Team Racing (CTR)

CTR is the fourth installment in the Crash Bandicoot series. The main story of this game is just to race, but you must race against the ego-maniacal "Nitros Oxide" to save their planet from destruction. In the game, you can take control 1 of the 15 racers of the Crash Bandicoot series, although 8 are available at first you can unlock the others later on. The game to me was very well done, very fun, and very competitive like Mario Kart (except the killing each other part). You had different choices of characters with different status and different vehicles, the game was very fun in my opinion but not my top 5, that's why it's in number 9.

8.) Silent Hill

Silent Hill, the game to start its series, is terrifying, scary, and has a creepy atmosphere. Konami, the developers and publishers, made this game. It was released in North America in January 1999, and in Japan and Europe later that year. Silent Hill uses a third-person view with real-time 3D environments. The main character you play as is Harry Mason, he goes into Silent Hill searching for his missing adopted daughter. Later on, you stumble upon a cult conducting a ritual to revive a deity it worships, and you later discover her true origin. The game also has five different endings, depending on the actions you make it will determine the ending for you. The game was really freaky and the atmosphere is what got me the most out of everything, the story is good and the combat is decent, the puzzle system was really well made but it did anger those who couldn't figure it out, but overall the game was very good and I recommend it.

7.) Resident Evil

Resident Evil, also known as Biohazard in Japan, is a survival horror game. Shinji Mikami and Tokuro Fujiwara, owned by the video game company Capcom, made this game along with all the other Resident Evil games out there. The game was released on March 22nd, 1996, the game was known for its survival horror because of you walking around the mansion looking for weapons to fight zombies, but that's not the main story. The main story is you play as S.T.A.R.S., a special police unit that ends up in a mansion in the mountains, trying to find to find an underground lab owned by a well-known pharmaceutical corporation; you are also trying to find survivors of the Bravo team. Two protagonists, you play as are Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine—you can pick one of the characters if I remember correctly. The game was pretty good, great combat system and some difficult puzzle solving. Overall it's a great game.

6.) Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid brings back some really really good memories, this is an action-adventure stealth video game produced by Konami. The game was later released for PlayStation on September 3rd, 1998. Metal Gear Solid follows Solid Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit. You need to stop two hostages, the head of DARPA and the president of a major arms manufacturer and stop them from launching a nuclear strike. The game requires some major stealth skills and some sneaky tactics in order to not get every guard to shoot you or arrest you (mainly shoot you). The combat system to me was off, but mainly you are sneaking around, not running in shooting everyone right on the spot; the stealth system was fantastic, sneaking around was great as well (especially when you hide in a cardboard box). The game scored 94/100 on an aggregate website, but in my personal opinion, the game was fantastic overall.

5.) PaRappa the Rapper

PaRappa the Rapper is a rhythm video game developed by NanaOn-Sha and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation. The game to me was very kid friendly and very groovy, meaning the music you had to rap too was very catchy and easily addicting. The characters were made pretty well, the main character (PaRappa) is very funny and brings a lot of hope to kids saying his favorite catch phrase "I gotta believe," meaning for PaRappa, anything he believes is very determined to do it, which I think is a great message for kids for accomplishing hopes and dreams. The game also came out for the PSP, PS2 and PS4. Overall, the game was very catchy and addicting, it's one of my top 5 favorites out there.

4.) Final Fantasy VII

Final Fantasy VII is a role-playing video game developed by Square for the PlayStation console, it was released on January 31st, 1997. Final Fantasy VII began in 1994 for the Super NES. After delays and technical difficulties from experimenting on several platforms, Square ultimately moved development to the PlayStation, largely due to the advantages of the CD-ROM format. The game's story follows Cloud Strife, a mercenary who joins an eco-terrorist group to stop the world-controlling mega corporation. I don't really remember playing this game as well as the others, but I love role-playing games, and this game had an interesting concept and a great story just like every Final Fantasy. The dialogue was pretty good, the characters you meet have a nice range of emotions when you get close to the characters. Overall my number 4 of my top ten.

3.) Tomb Raider II

Tomb Raider II is an action-adventure video game, part of the Tomb Raider series and the sequel to the 1996 video game Tomb Raider. Developed by Core Design and published by Eidos Interactive, the game came out in 1997, on October 31st. The gameplay of Tomb Raider II builds upon the basic set up of the original game. Tomb Raider II has new weapons, extra moves, and a set of vehicles. The story of Tomb Raider II surrounds the mythical "Dagger of Xian," a weapon which was used by an Emperor of China to command his army. Lara Croft investigates the legend of the dagger. Upon reaching the door which leads to the dagger, she is attacked by a thug who claims to work for Marco Bartoli, a Venetian Mafia leader who has an obsession with the ancient lore of the dagger. The game had a good story, good combat system, and of course, it has the famous character of Lara Croft. Overall the game was great and I loved it and its series.

2.) Spyro The Dragon

Spyro the Dragon is a platform video game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The game was released for the PlayStation in September 1998. The brings back a lot of nostalgia from when I was a kid, my mom loved this game to death and I enjoyed it as well. As a purple dragon named Spyro, you go to save the world. The adventure and comedy mixed within this game make it a perfect game for kids to play. Spyro the Dragon became a famous game, more of the series was released later on, continuing the story of the legend Spyro the Dragon. Overall the game was great and I loved every bit of it.

1.) Crash Bandicoot

Now we can't forget Crash Bandicoot, the crazy character that made PlayStation for who they are and making the serious fantastic. Crash Bandicoot is a platform video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation. The game was first released in North America in September 1996, and later in Europe two months later. Crash Bandicoot is an all time favorite game for anybody, the games rated was K-A (Kids to Adults), meaning the game can be enjoyed by kids and adults. It was also added in Uncharted 4 as an Easter egg where you play the first level of the game then move on to the story of Uncharted. This game brought a lot of people together; the reasons for it was the game had a normal level difficulty, the game was funny, great levels, and not a bad story. Overall the game was fantastic and I would love to play it again. Speaking of playing it again, the new Crash game, Crash Bandicoot 'N Sane Trilogy, came out for PS4 for all people who were young and kids at the time can now play it again with a bit more of extra content.

Well that was my Top ten PS1 games, I hope this brings nostalgia back to you guys as it has for me. That was my top ten, what was your top ten?
