'Assassin's Creed' or 'Far Cry'?

You decide.

Many of you are fans of either Assassin's Creed or Far Cry or even other quality games from Ubisoft like For Honor or the various Tom Clancy games. I have become a huge fan of the Assassin's Creed series this past summer starting with Origins, then Unity, Syndicate, Black Flag, and in October, I will be getting my hands on the deluxe edition of Odyssey. I did briefly play Chronicles, but after the first level and how the game was, I sold it back to Gamestop because I found it to be just that bad.

It was also down the line that I took an interest in Far Cry: Primal. I wanted to get the recent Far Cry 5 game, but I had other things to spend my money on.

After playing these games and becoming a devout follower of the series, I got to wondering about other ideas that can be applied to the series.

As always, you have the right to disagree with me and make other suggestions.

Post-Apocalyptic

Boing Boing

This idea would apply more to a Far Cry game than Assassin's Creed.

I know that Fallout 76 will be coming out soon and Wastelands 2 is already available. But my idea would possess more of a 1980s Mad Max feel rather than the cheesy 1950s theme that makes up Fallout 4.

It could have mutants and feral zombies along the same struggling-to-survive concepts that come with Fallout 4. It definitely would have to have a lot of vehicular action like you had in the Mad Max game for PS4, but with more weapons for the character to use, along with resource gathering and side missions.

The Wild West

The fact that Assassin's Creed: Syndicate takes place in 19th century Victorian London has been covered, but why not shift it to the American West during the same events. Can you imagine one of the Assassins dressed up as a cowboy and having to meet the legends of the Old West? Like Kit Carson or Wild Bill Hickok or even Jesse James? The question is how would the plot apply to Assassin's Creed? This would be a question for Far Cry, too. Maybe something involving bringing back slavery and speaking of which...

The U.S. Civil War

The Templars siding with the South to defend slavery and the Assassins siding with the North to abolish slavery would prove to be an interesting plot. Maybe it could be something that involves fighting the war from the shadows. The lead character could even be a freeman or freewoman, fighting the Confederacy for the Union.

As for this idea being applied to Far Cry, it could be a Southern deserter and have it lead to a Free State of Jones concept or a random civilian whose life was shattered by the actions of the Confederacy and decides to take up the fight for the Union.

Spanish Conquest of Mexico or Even Before That

When playing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the character Ah Tabai is a Mayan assassin and leader of the West Indies branch of the Assassin's order. This got me thinking about having Mayan assassins before the Assassin's Order.

It also got me thinking about the use of Aztec assassins against the Spaniards and the Templars after the conquest. Sort of a revenge story.

I also wonder if it would be a good idea to apply it to the Far Cry series. It doesn’t have to be against the Spaniards. It could be long before the arrival of the Spaniards and maybe even have something to do with the mythology of the ancient civilizations of Mexico.

Noir Style

Be honest, you would like to see an Assassins Creed or Far Cry game that takes place during the gangster era, wouldn’t you?

Meeting the famous criminals like Dutch Schultz and Al Capone, working with Elliot Ness, owning your own speakeasy, and making your own liquor in a time where drinking the stuff was illegal. Maybe they could give one the option of playing a Templar and running your own criminal empire or playing an Assassin who helps the feds to bring down organized crime in Chicago.

As for what the application could be for Far Cry, you could have some guy fresh out of prison and he wants to be with one of the most famous gangsters or an agent working with Elliot Ness.

Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

Feudal Japan

The Sengkou period of Japan originally began with the Onin War (1467-1477 CE) and a series of other conflicts would follow it until 1615 CE with the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate. So why not have the Assassins be Ninjas and the Templars Samurai? Or with Far Cry, have it be a ronin that chooses which side he wants to be on?

There is also the Gempei War that would lead to the establishment of the Shogunate and the Samurai class, with the Templars being part of the Tara Clan and the Assassins with the Minamoto Clan? Don’t know how it would work with Far Cry.

There is also the Mongol invasion, with Templars being on the Mongols and Assassins being with the Japanese? With Far Cry, it could feature a vengeful samurai that wants to kill the Mongols for burning down his village?

Wouldn’t it be interesting to play as a Samurai or a Ninja from an FPS or third-person view?
