The Story of the Review of Alan Wake 2
The Writer woke up with the worst hangover he'd possibly ever had. The light from his phone screen burned at his eyes, so he turned back over and let the darkness heal him. His pillows were damp, smelling of salt. There'd been an argument, but his attempts to remember the night were met with daggers of pain shredding at the insides of his skull.

Laser Tag Therapy
Hi, everyone. It's been a while since I wrote something that wasn't book-related. I completed another lap around the sun last weekend. So far, 27 doesn't look too bad on me (give it time, naturally). Though, it has also allowed me to face up to something that has lurked in the back of my brain for a fair few years. In terms of childhood traumas, it probably reads mildly. But I'll be damned if it hasn't had a long-lasting impact on how I function as a human being.

Modern Warfare II - Dark Water Gameplay Impressions
Irrespective of what the final product ends up being, one thing Call of Duty always tends to nail are its pre-release trailers. After a gung-ho reveal trailer scored by a J Balvin cover of Metallica's Wherever I May Roam (a sentence I never thought I would type), the following gameplay trailer showed us the mission titled "Dark Water", a moodier, quieter affair. However, veteran Call of Duty players will recognise the structure of it.

Aspen Murik and the Runes of Erelon
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Aspen Murik knew the legends well. A dragon had not been born in centuries, none beyond the Second Reckoning. It started purely as rumours around the valley, members of the outer villages painted tall tales of people passing through who had seen unknowable destruction.

Resident Evil Village Review (PS5)
Resident Evil Village is a consistently entertaining survival-horror game that expands on the story which began in its direct predecessor. But it falls frustratingly short of being a true evolution for the series as it treads the line between wanting to play the greatest hits in amongst some interesting newer concepts.

How Gaming Is Keeping Me Sane Created with: Humble Bundle
Over the last year, we’ve all found ourselves stuck inside more and more. One of the few upsides to the last twelve to fourteen months is how many people have either got back into video games or have picked up a pad for the first time. It’s shown the world just how important games can be both as a story-telling medium and as a form of escapism from whatever troubles, little or large, we face in our real lives. Some people even took the time and effort to master specific games either for their own enjoyment or the satisfaction of emerging victorious (lets face it, winning does feel pretty great most of the time).

1917: The Frontline ReviewTop Story - January 2020
World War One is a period of time that doesn't receive a lot of attention in the movie industry. Maybe it is because the powers that be got involved for less-than-noble reasons, so it wouldn't seem right to try and make a film on the matter. But for the hundreds of thousands of everyman soldiers that thought and died in battle, this was just them following orders, even if they didn't always agree with them.
