Claire: Extended Cut for PS4

Is it worth the glitches?

As a huge fan of anything scary or horrific, I usually jump right on in without testing the waters. My love for horror video games came in with the perilous and eerie age of Resident Evil 2 in 98' for Playstation (yes, I am a Sony gal). So coming home to see a 2D horror film my boyfriend downloaded for me on my PS4 was dope! I was all for it!

Keep in mind I have never played the original version.

SO anyways I am all in for playing this game! I sit down, plug myself in and BAM I am greeted with a weird ass dialogue from some CareBear wannabes on a black screen. Now I am like... What the fuck?? Nothing creepier than hearing your stuffed animals come to life? Well, If I have learned anything from playing Claire, it all becomes twisted if not creepier.

* I will freak out if there is some psychological twist between Claire and the angry ScareBear

The story begins with a terrifying opening sequence as a scared child in a dark house. The opening act is followed by an awakening Claire in the hospital room of St. Barbara hospital on the 8th floor. The story does address this as a common place for Claire later on in the story line after she attempts a coffee run. After this point, there is pretty much no hope it seems and I DO sincerely lol at this point in desperation because insanity just rips into the story line. The puzzles are well done and if you are an explorer like me, you can easily rack up if not double but triple the hours of load time.

*I have yet to play any of the other difficulties but plan to!

Exploring in this game is a literal left to right, open door by door and find items that are essential to your health and your way out. Out of what? Don't ask, I have yet to beat the game remember? I had two glitches occur which put me back several of hours on the same load. I am currently on a second load. I first saved after pediatrics which is nearly the beginning of the game. I must have lost maybe, 8 hours? The pediatrics map is where I found a glitch where I ended up locked out of the Pediatric Wing. I am putting it lightly when I say I was not feeling it when I came across the second glitch in the high school map. After the writing on the wall, the objective is the auditorium. My map had shown the objective until it sent me back to the library. So I began with my second load right before the portraits puzzle.

I am thinking Claire: Extended Cut is a game well done but may need a bit of polish. The glitches sucked but I did figure out what I did that warranted my first surprise glitch. *spoiler alert* in my silly panic, I ran away from the ghoul in a room leaving the doctors key card on the desk. When I went back to try and retrieve it once again, I was locked out of pediatrics. Which coincidentally is a door you unlock later in the game.

I have no complaints about Claire: Extended Cut. I plan on finishing the game and writing about my full on view of this game. It is the game horror fans want, blood soaked creepy hallways with fresh entrails, ghouls and something that looks suspiciously like slender man.

Can't have a decent horror game without good eargasms. The sound effects in my turtle beaches are amazing and just as good sounding in a basic headset. The yuck is layered thickly in the sound effects making every door to open just as intense as the last.

So far this game is a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I am hoping it just gets better as I unravel the dark hallways I am now a part of.

Side note: I have this feeling that Claire: Extended Cut may be amazing if not better on the PSvita because of its 2D layout. Only my opinion but I have yet to play on that platform. It would be really cool to hear from the PSvita players on this topic
