While playing Battlefield 1 did you ever think "man, sure wish there were more giant robots in this"? Maybe you enjoyed the heart pounding action of being put in WW1, but also wanted the joy of giant robotic death machines. I mean, there are very few things in life that aren't improved by giant robots, right?

Well, I have good news for you. Developers King Art Games had the same train of thought and recently announced their latest offering Iron Harvest: 1920+, a real time strategy game based on an alternate history of WW1. Spoiler alert: it looks amazing.

You lead hero characters, mechs, and soldiers into battle.

Inspired by Great Art and a Fascinating World

The game is inspired by the fantastic art of Polish artist Jakub Rozalski who created the 1920+ universe. He's been at it for a while and has been putting out artwork around the alternate history since 2014. Basing his art on the Battle of Warsaw and Polish-Soviet War he takes scenes from the time and spices them up with striking images of mechs prowling the land.

Jakub Rozalski

On his Facebook, Rozalski explains the world of 1920+ and its alternate history:

World of 1920+ is an alternate version of the world and Europe, of the turn of the XIX and XX century. Period when tradition clashed with modernity, and the world was still full of mysteries and secrets. in the era of the industrial revolution, mankind fascinated by engines, iron and steel, began to experiment and try to build a huge walking machine.

He does emphasize that it's an alternate history with no fantasy elements. No magic or anything like that, just a jump forward in technology. The more I look at the art, the more I'm all about it.

What to Expect

There's not a lot we know about the game as of now. What we do know is that it's currently being developed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The play style will be set in a sandbox style world while having a very intriguing story line. There'll also be cover mechanics and dynamic destruction of structures which makes sense given that you're pitting regular infantry against giant freakin' robots.

You lead hero characters, mechs, and soldiers into battle. Cover mechanics and dynamic destruction play a major role in combat. Your squads take cover automatically, but a simple brick wall will only offer protection against small calibers, not against mech-mounted cannons.

Alternate universe WW1 with diesel-punk robots? Alright, sign me up. There's no details on release date as of yet, but King Art Games states that they're looking forward to revealing more details in the upcoming months.
