When are they going to reappear in video games?

For those of you are familiar with the game For Honor you recognize this nameless Shinobi from the game For Honor.

I post this article because I wish to address the need for video game ninjas to make a return appearance. I am well aware that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be coming out on March 22, 2019 (Because I will receive a copy) but I am not talking about video games featuring Ninjas.

I am talking about iconic video game ninjas that have had time in the world of video games but haven't been seen in a while.

This here is a list of famous ninjas who need to make their return.

Ryu Hayabusa

His most recent appearance was in Warriors All-Stars, but has not done a solo game since Ninja Gaiden III. He made an appearance in the poorly reviewed Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z but was not a playable character.

I wish to pose the question as to when are they going to have another Ninja Gaiden game? Or even something of series involving more ninjas from his own clan against a rival one?

Either way, there needs to be something from the Ninja Gaiden series that makes up for the awful Yaiba.

Rikimaru and Ayane

First appearing in the 1998 PlayStation game Tenchu: Stealth Assassins, these two talented ninja assassins/spies have certainly made their mark in the gaming industry.

The last appearance of the two, however, was in 2009 Tenchu: Shadow Assassins for the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable, both of which received both average and mixed reviews.

Since then, they have yet to make another appearance in the video game world.

Joe Musashi

Otherwise known as Joe Musashi, the ninja master known as Shinobi appeared in video games back in 1987 and made his last appearance in Shinobi 3d for the Nintendo 3DS back in 2011.

He has not made an appearance in any new video games since then.

If there was to be another Shinobi series, what would the plot be? Would it play like the Ninja Gaiden series? I know that the game could not go on with the famous Ninja Magic that was seen in the previous Shinobi series.

Strider Hiryu

Appearing in a manga in 1988, Strider Hiryu would go on to star in two video games ... One for the other arcade and another for the Nintendo. The Nintendo version had several changes from the manga, whereas the arcade added in Siberia, the Amazon, the battleship Balrog, and the final stage at Third Moon.

Strider 2 came out for the PlayStation One in 1999. A sequel to the original series came out in 1992 for the Sega consoles. The most recent Strider game was released for the PlayStation Three and Four, Xbox One and 360, Microsoft Windows back in 2014.

The popular Capcom ninja has not yet made another solo debut since, but has appeared in several of the Marvel vs Capcom games.

He still should get another solo game in my opinion.

Hattori Hanzo

Not to be confused with the real-life Hattori Hanzo (1542-1596 CE) or the one from Kill Bill played by martial arts legend Sonny Chiba.

The one from SNK series Samurai Showdown will be making an appearance in soon to be released Samurai Showdown VII.

I, however, wish to make the argument that this ninja should be given the luxury of having a stand-alone series.

Ninja Warriors

The first game was released for the Nintendo, there were two characters. Kunoichi (red female) and Ninja (blue male).

It was made again for the Super Nintendo, with Ninja being strong but, slow and wielding nunchucks, Kunoichi with knives and swords, and a new addition to the game Kamaitachi with sickle arms.

They fight against an evil dictatorship, despite the fact that their activation as androids wasn't tested until the game's beginning.

There is a remake of the game coming for the Nintendo Switch in 2019, but what about for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?
