The new Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch were announced a few months ago, however there are new features being announced each month and the game is now vastly different from the original Pokemon Yellow that they are based off.
Number 1) The Pokéball Plus
The Pokéball plus is a new controller that works exactly the same as the Joy Con for the Nintendo Switch Console however it is (obviously) shaped like a pokéball with 2 buttons on the top and bottom to use as "A" and "B" and the Joystick works as the normal Joy Con. It also has motion controls and the ability to put one of you Pokémon from the game into the Pokéball Plus to take with you and if you shake it whilst out then it will make that Pokémon's specific sound.
Number 2) New Catching Mechanisms
The new Pokémon games have taken away the normal catching mechanisms and have introduced a Pokémon Go like catching system where you use motion controls on the Joy con or the Pokéball Plus to essentially throw the Pokéball at the Pokémon on screen to make the Pokéball fly towards it and catch the Pokémon. Coloured circles have also been introduced just like Pokémon Go and if you get the Pokéball inside the circle when it is as small as possible, then the chance of the Pokémon being caught will be higher.
Number 3) The Ability to See Pokémon in the World Whilst Walking Around
In Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, you now have the ability to see the Pokémon in the tall grass and running into them is how you enter a battle with them; however the hit box is quite large so they are hard to avoid. This new feature isn't a game changer and it won't determinate whether you buy the game or not but it does make the game feel a bit more real and interesting.
Number 4) The Ability to Put Your 'Pokémon Go' Pokémon into 'Let's Go'
This new feature is very controversial as many people think that this is cheating; however it could also make the grinding to complete the Pokédex into a much easier task so there are some benefits. If you don't want to worry about levelling up you Pokémon and just want to play through the game, then this could be a very useful feature.
Number 5) Two Player Mode
In Let's Go, you now have the ability to play in a two player mode where the second person is given a Pokémon and they can walk around the world with you and go into battles with you. They can also catch Pokémon with you and increase your chances of catching that Pokémon. This adds a local multiplayer that Pokémon fans have always wanted.
Number 6) Riding Pokemon
In Pokémon Let's Go you have the ability to ride around on large Pokémon such as: Charizard, Blastoise, Venasur, Onix, Arcanine, and more. this gives a brand new way to explore the Kanto region and move faster through the game faster than ever before. This just adds another fun element to the game.
Number 7) Dressing Your Starter Pokémon
This is a very fun feature that allows you to dress up your Pikachu or Eevee in assorted clothing to make them different. You can also choose a hairstyle and they look different if they are male or female. This isn't a game changer but it is a very fun feature that you can spend lots of time in.
Number 8) The Return of Kanto Characters
This feature is just nice to have and brings a nostalgia element into the game that many people have wanted for a very long time. It is very nice to know that some of our favourite Pokémon characters are back for another round and brings back those memories of sitting in bed with a Game Boy playing Blue, Red, or Yellow.
Number 9) The Return of Mega Evoution
This is a big deal because we have never had mega evolution in Kanto before and it opens up a whole new range of Pokémon to obtain and use in game. It gives the game more play ability and gives you more bang for your buck.
Number 10) Pokemon Following You
I saved the best feature for last. Pokémon following you is what the Pokémon community has been waiting for since generation 2 and now we have it in 1080p and we can see it on a large television so it is truly a groundbreaking new feature.
And that was my top 10 picks for the best new Pokémon Let's Go features. I hope you enjoyed my second page. Be sure to leave a tip if you enjoyed. Thanks for reading!
